mother of five children, ranging in age from almost seven to almost born. I live on a hobby farm in rural Quebec, Canada. My beloved is a hardworking man whom I was blessed to meet online. He works from home and so, together, we strive to shepherd our little flock. Our livestock consists of seven chickens and a rooster, so we can hardly be called farmers—but we do love those daily eggs! Nature is all around us (sometimes a little too close for this city-girl’s comfort!) and we have beautiful fields and hiking trails in our front and back yard, for which we are very grateful! In 2019, we started homeschooling and are learning how to navigate all that that entails. Life is busy—too busy—and I am often overwhelmed by all that it throws at me daily. However, this has been a year of growth and I hope this site will capture some of the things I’ve learned and am continuing to learn.
If we could meet face-to-face, I would lose no time in telling you that I am a practicing Catholic. That reality, that worldview, colours my being. I may not always write explicitly about Catholic things, but—then again—there is nothing this wide faith does not cover. This particular lense through which I see the world gives me hope. Even on the hardest, darkest days, I find myself coming back to this fundamental reality: that I belong to God.
When I’m not blogging, I love taking care of my home: cooking, cleaning, organizing, arranging and rearranging. I like the idea of making things beautiful for my family. The baking certificate I earned several years ago is a perfect complement to family life. I’ve recently taken up sourdough bread baking (along with the rest of the world, it seems!) and am enjoying learning this new skill.
I studied English Literature at the University of Ottawa where I met many wonderful authors, teachers, and friends. I will be forever grateful for the inspiration to switch from Linguistics to English! I love to read and usually have a stack of books I’m going through at any given time. In a far-distant life, I wrote short stories and tinkered away at several unpublished novels. I hope to rekindle this love in the year ahead. My only published poem, “Alessandro’s Ascent”, can be read on the “Writing” page of this site. Last year, I entered my first writing competition. My short story, “Liturgy of the Hours” was published in the online literary magazine, Short Fiction Break. You can read my submission here.
